Who We Are
The New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) is charged with providing secure retirement benefits to active and retired employees of New Mexico public schools, institutions of higher learning and certain employees at state agencies who work in educational programs.

NMERB is self-funded, meaning that the agency does not receive a direct General Fund appropriation, but is supported by the investment earnings of the fund. The Board of Trustees and agency staff pride themselves on a strong record of prudent financial management as reflected in our Popular Annual Financial Report and pension leading investment performance. Board members and staff take great pride in maintaining and improving NMERB’s actuarial management, improving the efficiency of its operations while emphasizing professional and courteous customer service.
