Santa Fe – New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) Interim Executive Director Rick Scroggins is pleased to announce that Mr. Lawrence Esquibel is the new NMERB Deputy Director. Mr. Esquibel served as Chief Information Officer with the NMERB for six and a half years before assuming the role of Deputy Director on May 1, 2021. Upon reflection, Mr. Scroggins stated, “We are very excited about this advancement for Lawrence. His skillful leadership and engaged management style made him the natural choice.”
Mr. Esquibel’s experience includes 17 years in the business, technology, and health care sectors combined with over 30 years of managerial experience. Prior to joining NMERB, Mr. Esquibel served as the Director of Information Technology for seven and a half years for the County of Valencia and with United Way of Central New Mexico for six years as a Technical Operations Specialist.
When asked about taking on his new role as Deputy Director, Mr. Esquibel commented that:
“It has been, and continues to be my honor and privilege to work alongside the Educational Retirement Board staff. ERB has assembled a team of dedicated professionals who are committed, each in their own regard, to serving the New Mexico Educational community. I look forward, with great pleasure, to continue to contribute to the current efforts underway on behalf of the members of ERB. “
