Dear ERB Plan Members,
I hope this message finds you well. As summer approaches, I want to share a few quick updates and reminders for our members who are retired or nearing retirement.
Our New Home
This past February, the Educational Retirement Board (ERB) held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate our new building. We were honored to have a keynote speech from our Board Chairman, Russell Goff, and a visit from New Mexico’s Lieutenant Governor, Howie Morales. ERB staff, our design firm (Dekker), and our contractor (Enterprise Builders) all joined in the celebration.
Pension System Update
Our team is also making great progress on our new pension administration system. This system acts as the secure, central home for all member information. It holds your employment history, service credit, career earnings, and contact details. This four-year project will wrap up in the fall of 2027. Once live, it will improve security, protect data accuracy, and make our services easier for you to access. Please keep checking our website for regular updates and helpful resources. Have a safe and wonderful summer!
Important Reminders:
Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)
The new COLA amounts will apply to your July pension payments. As a reminder, COLA increases are set by state law. The formula looks at inflation and the financial health of the pension fund to make sure the program stays strong for future generations.
Here are the COLA amounts for this year:
- 1.80% for retirees who have 25 or more years of service credit and a monthly benefit of $1,834.85 or less (as of June 30, 2025).
- 1.60% for all other eligible retirees.
- 2.00% for disability retirees who have been retired for at least 3 years.
Return-to-Work (RTW)
Are you thinking about going back to work for an ERB employer? This includes local school districts, charter schools, universities, and certain state agencies. If so, please contact ERB first. We will help you verify your eligibility so there are no surprises or interruptions to your pension benefits.

Sincerely,
David Archuleta
